Six of the seven labels on this page print the same headline figure, 10 mg of melatonin; the seventh, made for children, prints 0.5 mg only on the back. Three of the seven panels reach 10 mg with a two-gummy serving, three with a single tablet, and the children's panel prints one column for a single gummy and one for two. We read seven Supplement Facts panels, divide each printed figure by the pieces in a serving, total what a container holds, and copy out what the gummy panels print that the tablet panels do not. As always in this series: label math only, nothing about what melatonin does.
Seven labels, one headline figure, two serving sizes
The phrase to watch is "per serving". Four of the seven fronts print it with the dose: the two Nature Made gummy bottles print "10 mg" and "per serving" as two separate strings, the Nature's Bounty gummy front prints "10mg of Melatonin" and "per serving", and the Sleep3+ box prints "10mg Melatonin per serving" as one string. The Natrol fast-dissolve front prints "10mg" with no serving wording, the Nature Made tablet front prints "10 mg" alone, and the children's front prints no milligram figure.
| Label | Serving size and melatonin per serving |
|---|---|
| Nature Made Melatonin 10 mg Gummies, 120 count | 2 Gummies: Melatonin 10 mg |
| Nature Made Melatonin 10 mg Gummies, 70 count | 2 Gummies: Melatonin 10 mg |
| Nature's Bounty Melatonin 10 mg Gummies | 2 Gummies: Melatonin 10 mg |
| Nature Made Melatonin 10 mg Tablets | 1 Tablet: Melatonin 10 mg |
| Natrol Melatonin 10 mg Fast Dissolve Tablets | 1 Tablet: Melatonin 10 mg |
| Nature's Bounty Sleep3+ Tablets | 1 Tablet: Melatonin 10 mg, GABA, ashwagandha |
| Natrol Kids Sleep+ Calm Gummies | 1 or 2 Gummies: Melatonin 0.5 mg or 1 mg |
On the three adult gummy panels, 10 mg per 2 gummies is 5 mg per gummy. On the three tablet panels a serving is one tablet: 10 mg per tablet. The Nature Made tablet panel's column heading is printed "Amount Per Tablet", not "Amount Per Serving". The children's panel prints both readings at once: 0.5 mg under "%DV (1 Gummy)" and 1 mg under "%DV (2 Gummies)".
Melatonin per container: count times serving
The per-serving figure times the servings printed on the panel gives the melatonin in a full container; five of the seven panels print that line.
- Nature Made gummies, 120 count: 60 servings × 10 mg = 600 mg; 60 × 2 gummies = 120 gummies, matching the count.
- Nature Made gummies, 70 count: 35 servings × 10 mg = 350 mg; 35 × 2 = 70 gummies.
- Nature's Bounty gummies: the panel prints 45 servings of 2 gummies, and 45 × 10 mg = 450 mg. The front prints "140 Vegetarian Gummies"; 45 × 2 = 90, while 140 ÷ 2 = 70. The panel we read is a label graphic, not the bottle back; both figures are reported as printed.
- Natrol fast dissolve: 100 servings × 10 mg = 1,000 mg; the label spells it out as "100 Tablets 100 Servings".
- Natrol Kids: servings per container is printed "60 or 30". 60 one-gummy servings × 0.5 mg = 30 mg, and 30 two-gummy servings × 1 mg = 30 mg, the same total either way.
- Nature's Bounty Sleep3+: the panel we read, a label graphic, prints "Serving Size 1 Tablet" and no servings line. The box front prints "28 TRI-LAYERED TABLETS"; at one tablet per serving, 28 × 10 mg = 280 mg.
- Nature Made tablets: the panel we read, a label graphic, prints "Serving Size 1 Tablet" and no servings line, and the photographed front prints no count. We print no container total for it.
Gummies vs tablets: the sugar and calorie lines only the gummies print
Read from the top, a gummy panel opens like a food label; the three tablet panels open with a milligram row: calcium on one, GABA on one, melatonin itself on one. The table gives the calorie and sugar lines of the gummy panels and what the tablet panels print above melatonin; the other gummy rows follow it.
| Label | Lines printed above melatonin, per serving |
|---|---|
| Nature Made gummies (120 and 70 count) | 2 Gummies: Calories 20, Total Sugars 3 g |
| Nature's Bounty gummies | 2 Gummies: Calories 15, Total Sugars 3 g |
| Natrol Kids gummies, one-gummy column | 1 Gummy: Calories 10, Total Sugars 2 g |
| Natrol Kids gummies, two-gummy column | 2 Gummies: Calories 20, Total Sugars 3 g |
| Nature Made tablets | 1 Tablet: Calcium 47 mg (4% DV) |
| Nature's Bounty Sleep3+ tablets | 1 Tablet: GABA 100 mg, Ashwagandha 60 mg |
| Natrol fast-dissolve tablets | 1 Tablet: no line above Melatonin |
Both Nature Made gummy panels print Total Carbohydrate 4 g (1% DV), Total Sugars 3 g and an indented line printed "Includes 3 g Added Sugars" at 6% DV. The Nature's Bounty gummy panel prints the same carbohydrate and sugar figures, its added-sugar line printed "Includes 3g Added Sugars" without the space, plus Sodium 15 mg (<1% DV). Per gummy, 3 g per 2 gummies is 1.5 g of sugar on all three adult gummy panels. The children's panel prints Total Sugars 2 g with an indented "Included Added Sugars" line at 2 g (4% DV) for one gummy, and 3 g and 3 g (6% DV) for two; sodium is 10 mg in one column and 20 mg in the other.
Other ingredients, as printed: the Nature Made gummies open with "Glucose Syrup, Sugar, Water, Gelatin"; the Nature's Bounty gummies with "Cane Sugar, Tapioca Syrup, Pectin"; the children's gummies with "Tapioca Syrup, Cane Sugar, Water, Pectin". The Nature Made tablet lists only "Cellulose Gel, Magnesium Stearate." The Natrol fast-dissolve list begins with "Dextrose" and names "Sucralose" in its 2-percent-or-less group, and its panel prints no calorie or sugar line.
What time-release, tri-layer and fast dissolve are printed as
The Nature's Bounty box prints "Sleep3+", "Gold Series", the words "TIME-RELEASE TECHNOLOGY" and "28 TRI-LAYERED TABLETS". Its panel prints three rows: GABA (Gamma-Aminobutyric Acid) 100 mg, Ashwagandha Extract (Withania somnifera) (root) 60 mg and Melatonin 10 mg, each marked "**". The panel does not say which layer holds which ingredient, does not print a release time, and does not split the 10 mg between layers. The directions read "TAKE ONE (1) TABLET 30 MINUTES BEFORE BEDTIME." That 60 mg row is smaller than any ashwagandha line in our six-label ashwagandha read, where the printed figures run from 120 mg in one capsule to 1,200 mg per serving, and one panel weighs the ashwagandha only inside a 500 mg blend.
The Natrol bottle prints "Fast Dissolve", "Quickly dissolves in mouth" and "Strawberry artificial flavor" on the front, and the flat label header reads "Melatonin 10mg FAST DISSOLVE TABLETS". The directions are where it differs: "Dissolve in mouth or chew before swallowing. No water necessary." Its panel is the shortest on this page, one row, Melatonin 10 mg.
The Nature Made tablet prints neither phrase. Its front reads "Melatonin", "10 mg", "100% Drug Free" and "Dietary Supplement"; its directions say "with water"; its panel prints Calcium (as Dibasic Calcium Phosphate) 47 mg, 4% DV, above the melatonin.
The kids' gummy: 0.5 mg, printed in two columns
The Natrol Kids bottle is the one label here whose front prints no dose. The front reads "KIDS", "Sleep+", "Calm", "Melatonin + L-Theanine, Botanical Blend" and "60 GUMMIES | DIETARY SUPPLEMENT". The 0.5 mg appears only in the panel, which carries two amount columns and prints serving size as "1 or 2 Gummies".
Column by column, the active rows read: L-Theanine 25 mg or 50 mg; a "Proprietary Botanical Blend" of 12.5 mg or 25 mg, listing Chamomile Extract, Lemon Balm Extract and Lavender Extract with no figure for each; and Melatonin 0.5 mg or 1 mg. The directions read "For children ages 4 and up, take 1 or 2 gummies 30 minutes before bedtime. Chew thoroughly before swallowing." That blend line prints one weight and no figure per component, the same way the three proprietary blends do in our six-label berberine read.
Set against the adult gummies: the 10 mg printed for one adult two-gummy serving is the melatonin printed on 20 kids' gummies at 0.5 mg (10 ÷ 0.5 = 20). A comparison of two panels, nothing more; the six adult labels address their directions to adults, and the Natrol adult warning opens "Not intended for individuals under the age of 18."
Timing, maximums and asterisks
The directions differ in minutes and in ceilings. All three Nature Made labels say "one hour before bedtime", as "chew 2 gummies" or "take 1 tablet". The 70-count gummy label prints a ceiling in full, "Do not exceed 2 gummies daily.", and the tablet label "Do not exceed 1 tablet daily."; on the 120-count gummy label the same line is cut off in our photograph after "Do not exceed 2 g". The other four labels set the time at thirty minutes, printed "30 MINUTES BEFORE BEDTIME" on the two Nature's Bounty labels and "30 minutes before bedtime" on the two Natrol labels, and print no do-not-exceed line in the directions we read.
Warning text is legible, in full or in part, on five of the seven labels. The Nature Made tablet warning reads, in part, "Do not drive or operate machinery within eight hours of taking this product or if you feel groggy." On the two Nature Made gummy bottles the legible warning fragments open the same way, "WARNING: Do not use this produ" and "advised by a physician, if you are preg", and reach "Do not drive"; the right edge of every line is lost to the bottle curve in our photographs, and the rest is not legible. The Natrol Kids warning is addressed to "you or your child". None of the images we read of the Nature's Bounty gummies or the Sleep3+ box shows warning text.
Every melatonin row on these seven panels carries a footnote mark instead of a percent, and the mark varies: one asterisk on the three Nature Made panels, two on the Sleep3+ and Natrol Kids panels, three on the Nature's Bounty gummy panel, whose footnote reads "***Daily Value not established." The Natrol fast-dissolve panel marks its melatonin row with one asterisk while its footnote is printed "**Daily Value (DV) not established."; the two marks differ, and both are printed exactly that way.
Quick answers
Is melatonin 10 mg per gummy or per serving? Per serving, on all three adult gummy panels we read. The serving is 2 gummies, and 10 mg ÷ 2 is 5 mg per gummy.
How much melatonin is in one Sleep3+ tablet? 10 mg per 1-tablet serving, alongside GABA 100 mg and ashwagandha extract 60 mg. The front prints "TIME-RELEASE TECHNOLOGY"; the panel prints no release time and no per-layer split.
What does fast dissolve change on the Natrol label? The directions, not the dose: "Dissolve in mouth or chew before swallowing. No water necessary." The panel still prints Melatonin 10 mg per 1 tablet, 100 servings.
How much melatonin is in the Natrol Kids gummy? 0.5 mg per gummy and 1 mg per two gummies, printed in two columns on the panel; the front prints no milligram figure.
Do melatonin tablets print sugar? Not on these three panels: calcium 47 mg sits above the melatonin on the Nature Made tablet, GABA and ashwagandha on the Sleep3+, nothing on the Natrol fast dissolve. The three adult gummy panels print 15 or 20 Calories and 3 g of Total Sugars per serving.
