Monoprice 8 Inch 60-Watt Powered Subwoofer Black

This Monoprice 8 Inch powered subwoofer capable of producing 60 watts (RMS) output.

The subwoofer has a frequency response range of 50 to 250 Hz with a lowpass crossover filter,

which can be adjusted from 50 to 150 Hz.

Gain and frequency knobs on the control panel allow you to adjust the crossover filter and

the power output for the optimum blend and balance of bass output with your stereo or surround speakers.

The Monoprice 8 Inch subwoofer has multiple input options,

which allow it to be used with any existing stereo or 5.1 (or greater) amplifier system.

For each input there is a corresponding output.

High-level inputs accept a full-range signal from the amplifier’s stereo speaker outputs.

When connecting the unit as part of a 5.1 system,

these would be taken off the Front Left and Front Right outputs in parallel to the standard pair of front speakers.

The Monoprice 8 Inch subwoofer provides its own power and includes impedance matching circuitry,

so this will not reduce the power output to the front speakers or affect the overall impedance load on the amplifier.

Additionally, the subwoofer has a set of right/left Line Level inputs.

If using a standard stereo system, without a special subwoofer output,

you can connect these to the left and right line level outputs on the amp.

The Monoprice 8 Inch subwoofer will then combine the signals to process the mono bass signal it needs to drive the speaker.

If you are using an amplifier with a single mono subwoofer line level output,

simply use an RCA “Y” cable to split the output and send it to the two line level inputs on the subwoofer.

The subwoofer is housed in an attractive black wood cabinet that measures 13.75″ x 11.75″ x 11.75″ (H x W x D).

The driver and a 2 3/4″ sound port are located on the front,

covered by a black cloth speaker grill. An optional “Auto-On” function puts

the subwoofer system into power-saving standby mode after about 2 minutes of no audio input detected.

Alternatively, the “Auto-On” function can be disabled,

allowing the unit to be on whenever the power switch is in the “on” position.

A 2 amp/250 volt fuse protects the system from short circuits or power overloads.

Picture on website is deceiving in a good way. When I first viewed this on the website the picture didn’t really give a good idea of the actual size and weight. I’m old so I don’t really relate millimeters to inches. So this speaker measures just slightly under 1x1x1 foot actually. It’s also heavyweight. I have a kitchen scale good to 18lbs and it easily maxed out my scale. To get the best sound I recommend setting it on a small table or stand at least 12″ off the floor. Carpet will act as sound absorber and hard surfaces will cause the sound to (bounce) oddly.

Small package, sounds very goodVery happy with this small sub. I have it in an area where 2 subs are required but not a large space so this fits the bill. One of my current subs stopped working so this was a replacement. Wish it would go on sale again so I can buy another to replace the aging KLH sub in the other area.

Boom-free BassNice woofer with small ported satellite jbl 2500 for jazz in apt. Gives smooth, one octave 50-90hz foundation to piano and tenor tax… Two for larger room. Use on short stand away from corner and wall.

Good clean, clear bassI have a TV movie sound system composed of 20-year old vintage Boston Acoustic speakers, L-C-R, and a Sony Cinema Sound controller/receiver. After a couple of minutes getting the sound level and cutoff frequency set, this subwoofer blends with the system and sounds great. The bass is full and clear.

Nice subwoofer – do not use the AUTO switch. The subwoofer has a nice smooth low-end. The only problem is the “auto” switch. The “auto” switch is intended to turn the unit off when not in use. But, while watching or listening, with the “auto” ON, it will turn off and on seemingly at random.

Great addition to home office.Nice little subwoofer. Excellent addition to a home office to bring some life to desktop speakers. Great for smaller rooms. Would totally buy this again, especially at the sales price.

High level input does not work on 4 of themI bought 4 of these on sale. I pinball forum alerted me to the sale and I bought 4. A few weeks go by and I go to install them and the high level inputs barely make any sound. So I went back to the forum and many other buyer are having the same issue. So i test again on the RCA side, and they work well. So i bought high level adaptors off amazon and low and behold, they work great. So if you are using rca, no problem, if high level, expect to pay an additional 10$ per sub.

The Hum is terrible.Really wanted to like it but the hum made it a no go for me. I had to turn it off and I KIND OF FORGOT ABOUT IT. I apparently let the refund/replace window get by me. I guess I’m stuck with it now. Live and learn. If you are considering this subwoofer do yourself a favor and spend a little more money and get something better.
