Exactly right for my needsI required a stairtop gate to keep an older dog from hurting himself trying to go down the stairs. This is perfect – easily installed, very attractive and quite easy to open and close single handed. If you had children who would push against it and are older than 3, it could probably be broken through fairly easily and you might want to consider something sturdier. It is, however, an excellent deterrent for small children and little dogs.

NORTH STATES STAIRWAY SWING GATEThe gate is great. Made my life much easier. The only thing I didn’t care for, is the picture looks like the gate is white (which I wanted) but when I got it, it is plain wood. Not very attractive but serves the purpose very well. I just spray painted the gate and all is good. Love it…

Not sure it’s good enough to justify the priceI’m using to keep dogs from upstairs. We open/close the gate A LOT. Gate easily comes off hinges (fixed by backing top mounting screws out 1/4 inch). The bottom closure eye hook is just useless if you’re constantly opening and closing – too much trouble to latch, and the gate width adjustment doesn’t slide very well to adjust the opening width. It would probably get more stars from me if we leaving it open or closed most of the time, but I would not recommend in a high traffic area.

Okay gate.It’s an okay gate. The latch isn’t too friendly at first but once you do it enough it’s easier. But getting the bottom hook on simultaneously seems nearly impossible which is why I can only give 3 stars.

Simple and effective for light-dutyInstallation is pretty simple. Construction is wood with metal fittings. The spring latch is difficult to press open for those without strong fingers. It will probably loosen up with use over time. This gate will keep small pets confined which is what we need it for. It is definitely not for larger pets.
