Works great in Linux and beyond!Very pleased so far, it’s replaced an inkjet scanner/copier/printer and an aging laser printer. I initially hooked it into an Ethernet print server, but learned that scanners can’t work unless it’s plugged directly into the computer.

I was thinking it would only work on my Linux desktop computer, but once I set it up as a CUPS network printer, it’s recognised and works even with my Chromebook!

So, if you have a computer in an office that will always be connected to the machine you can setup a CUPS server and it will work across your devices. The only key is to installing the printer driver before you plug it into the machine. My machine printed instantly, but it does print slightly slower from client machines.

I’M very happy that I got this printer because it was cheaper than competitors and although it lacks Wi-Fi and some other features, it is simple to operate and works quickly.

The machine scans fast in Linux, prints fast and is really easy to make copies from.

Quality printer[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is an amazing laser printer! You can print, scan, and copy on this on this sleek looking printer. It fits nicely on my desk leaving me plenty of work space. It works quickly, quietly, and efficiently producing high quality copies in a snap. It has been a workhorse in my home and hasn’t let me down!

Easy to use and high quality[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This Canon image class printer was very easy to figure out and set up. The directions were very clear and easy to understand. Everything that needed to be removed or set up was clearly marked which was very helpful. Easy to understand diagrams. The installation disc was also easy to figure out and each step was easy to install. Once set up I was able to immediately make a test copy and see how it worked. The image was crisp and clear and the ink was perfect. The paper tray holds quite a bit of paper and is easy to adjust for different sizes of paper. The USB cord 8s a little shorter than I prefer, but I was able to use my old printer cord that was much longer. The toner cartridge is much larger than I’m used to so I expect it to last a long time before needing to be replaced. It’s easy to remove and put back in. When printing or copying it’s very quiet and sounds very smooth. The images are quickly printed. The buttons and display are easy to read and everything works quickly without your typical warmup time with some printers. Changing the image size or paper are very easy to do. Scanning images or documents is also very easy to do and can easily be done from the computer since it installed the software. Everything about this laser printer was easy to figure out even for a beginner. I have a black filing cabinet that I’ve set the printer on and it looks very sleek and professional like it was made to go there. This printer seems to be made of high quality and I expect it to last a long time. Especially since the drum is removed when replacing the toner. This Canon printer is the perfect addition to a home office or regular home use and looks great.

If you only do B/W prints, this one is great.Pretty decent printer so far. Very basic but a great value for what it is.

    Pros:

Aftermarket ink cartridges that print <1¢/sheet (most inkjets are 7¢-10¢/sheet)

    Fast, high quality prints.

    Color scanner.

    Relatively small size.

    Cons:

No Wi-Fi/Bluetooth, wired USB connection only.

    No color prints. Only black/white.

No other frills, only basic features.

Prints fast[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Initial setup seemed intimidating at first and it had me scared at first thinking if I did something wrong I’d mess it up, but once I watched the YouTube video on the how to instructions it was a pretty easy setup. As long as you read the instructions on what you would like it set on and the type of paper or envelope you will be using beyond the setup you will be good to go. Pros: It prints great and super fast with not much noise. Cons: I wish it had Bluetooth connection so you can place it somewhere other than right next to the computer.

A good deal for a fine machine. This is an excellent machine and just what I was looking for. And the price was right. My only problem was with the set-up directions, many being confusing drawings rather than text. (Even so, set-up was easy.) The enclosed material suggested downloading the user’s manual, but the manual was not available at the suggested website. I have no idea how to use the machine’s scanner. I haven’t found a manual yet. But I got it for the printing, which is excellent.

Decent printerTo me 5 stars is perfect. Since nothing is totally perfect I gave the printer 4 stars. I haven’t used it much but since it is replacing a 12 yr old printer I have a big learning curve. So far the quality of the printing I have done is very good. As long as I am not trying anything fancy I am very happy with this printer. It does take time for my old brain to absorb new info so I am still turning to the (small print and confusing) directions many times.

I’d like to give this 5 stars because the printer prints fine and has good output, however, the lack of wireless capability necessitates taking a star away, and the lack of a LCD status screen for handling the copy functionality takes a star away as well. But if you want a solid, no frills printer and can work around the lack of wireless connectivity, for $100, it’s a good buy.

Mixed FeelingsPurchased and set up was a breeze. First print was the test sheet, quick and perfect. I have two computers one for family and one for me. My computer is a Chrome Book. This worked great with windows but did not support my Chrome Book. Ended up taking it back to WM.

Outdated[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was really excited to setup and use this Canon imageCLASS MF3010 black and white laser printer until I realized it is outdated. This printer requires a USB connection to function. That in itself is very outdated since most printers are wireless now. Also I use a Surface tablet that does not have this USB connection available since most are now USB C. I had to dig out an old computer to use this making it useless to me. The machine prints quickly and can copy. This printer is a major no for me. Spend your money on a machine that is current with today’s technology. If you are using a desktop computer this will work well for you but again, why buy this when you can buy another with all the bells and whistles.
